Vaccinations
Depending on what regions of India you plan to visit and what sort of
accommodation you are staying in, the most recommended vaccinations are
for diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, hepatitis A and typhoid. Make
sure that you visit your doctor, or a special vaccination organisation
4-6 weeks before you leave! Based on your destination, travel period,
your health and earlier vaccinations they will give you personal advice
in regards to your vaccination schedule.
Remember to ask your doctor about anti-malaria medication.
Visa
Almost
everyone needs a visa to visit India. Check out www.india-visa.com
for the link to your nearest embassy where you can find visa

valid passport for at least 6 months, a completed application form, two
passport size photos approx. EUR 50. But please double check this with
your local embassy.

Once we have received this information we will make sure that you will
receive an invitation letter from ICMA Head Office as evidence to

India - INS and OUTS
A great website for further general information about India is www.tourindia.com.
Airport - From
most European destinations, the flight time is 7-8 hours. Delhi Airport
is situated about 25 minutes drive from the hotel Hyatt Regency Delhi.
To view the official Delhi airport website go to www.delhiairport.com.
Transport - The
easiest way to get around the city is by taxi or auto-rickshaw, you can
find them anywhere in the city. You can book a taxi in advance at a
fixed price, or at a local taxi stand. For auto-rickshaws, although
there are official rates, the meters are often out of order, and
surcharges might be above the metered price. Therefore, negotiate the
price before setting off.
Currency - The currency used is the India Rupee (INR). To give you an idea,
100 INR is approx. 1,88 €.
-
Tip 1
- Make sure you get as many small notes as possible when you get your
rupees, preferably notes of 10, 20, 50 and 100 (even coins are useful,
for example it is 8 rupees to send an international postcard). Things
are not that expensive and you can have trouble with your change if you
have over a 500 note for an item that costs less than 400 INR.
-
Tip 2
- Do not accept torn notes as change, no Indian will accept them from
you. Notes are often quite battered, but tears are not accepted. Don't
accept it either if a shopkeeper offers to stamp it, to assure you it
is ok, this is meaningless.
