Location
Hotels NH Caransa is located in the city centre just next to the Munt, and south of Dam Square. It is about twenty minutes walking distance, along the streets named Damrak and Rokin, from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

Getting there
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is very close to Amsterdam city centre and there are several ways to make the trip. The best is a direct train every 15 minutes from the station immediately underneath the airport to Amsterdam Centraal Station, costing just EUR 3.60 - the trip takes about 15/20 minutes. You can buy tickets either from the yellow machines at the baggage carousel or on the concourse (they're in English), or from the ticket office on the concourse (they speak perfect English). Then, DO NOT take a cab from Amsterdam Central Station (there are really bad cab wars in Amsterdam at the moment and you will be overcharged by about 500%).

Walking directions
From Amsterdam Centraal Station it is about 20 minutes walk to the hotel. Cross the canal, heading for the Victoria Hotel. Keeping your back to the station, walk past the Victoria Hotel down Damrak. Walk through Dam Square and continue straight down the Rokin. At the Munt (you will see a clock tower on the right hand side, next to the Singel canal), turn left down a pedestrian street with tram tracks, which will lead you to Rembrandtplein. The NH Caransa is on the left hand side.

Taxi
If you're pressed for time, you can take a taxi from Schiphol, these are fine, should not overcharge you, and will normally cost EUR 35-40 to Amsterdam Centre (make sure the meter is on!) The trip will take about 25 minutes, depending on the traffic.

By car
Arriving by car, take direction 'Centrum'. Follow sign 'Parkeer garage WATERLOOPLEIN'.
