Budapest (Ferihegy) International Airport is 16 km south-east of the city centre. It has two terminals: Terminal 1 for low-cost airlines; Terminal 2 is divided into two, with Terminal 2A the departure and arrival point for flights of Malév Hungarian Airlines and Terminal 2B hosting all international carriers’ flights, including some of the budget airlines.
The airport’s central telephone number for information is (+36-1) 296-9696, and flight information is available on (+36-1) 296-7000.
By rail
More than fifty trains a day provide direct links between Budapest and 25 capital cities. Trains to Vienna run every three hours.
Taxi
The ride from the airport to the Intercontinental should take between 20 – 30 minutes, dependent on traffic. The cost should be around EUR 20 or 4600 HUF. Please be sure to go to the small stand, called Zona Taxi, situated outside the arrival area. Here you will tell them your destination (Intercontinental Budapest) to collect the voucher needed for the driver.
You will need to pay in Hungarian forint, therefore we recommend exchanging money before hand.
Airport Shuttle
Should you be looking for a cheaper fare – check out www.airportshuttle.hu which provides transfers for approximately EUR 11 or 2990 HUF for individuals. You will need to reseve your pickup on their web site. For groups of 10 or more it’s even cheaper approximately EUR 5 or 1250 HUF. Again, please reserve on their web site.
