His higher education included both engineering and the arts and he has been an active member of the open source community and open standards since 1997, contributing to several projects on the web, from the openoffice initiative to some Linux distributions and gpl software.

Before becoming the person responsible for developing the online business of Ocasião, he was a systems analyst. He continued managing print and online projects, until, in 2006, he was invited by Helmut Pollinger to reconstruct Ocasião’s classified website, where together they develop a growing client-orientated platform turned to functionality and usability. Discovering new traffic channels of web marketing and SEO in combination with the Scrum methodology for classifieds websites development are his new quest.

Loren has spent most of his career in the free paper industry with Harte-Hanks Shoppers (owners of the PennySaver in California and the Flyer in Florida).

In 1996, Loren became the President of the Harte-Hanks Shopper publications in Northern California. At the time, the circulation of those papers was just over 900,000 per week. He left that position 10 years later to start the internet company that he now runs for Harte-Hanks (PennySaverUSA.com). At the time of his departure, the circulation of his NorCal PennySavers had grown to over 2.8 million per week…

Loredana Ghejan

Loredana joined Inform Media as marketing manager following the completion of her economics degree. She moved into product management for the print products, helping to organize the sales force by determining targets for field sales, improving the sales workflow, and securing appropriate market and revenue share. She also took on responsibility as portal manager of Inform’s first classified portal and is now looking after sales and management of 8 news portals in Romania.

She believes that sales is all about the numbers and coordinates online sales for Inform’s entire portfolio, achieving an increase of 225% over the last two years.

Back in 1995 his company was building large-scale bespoke e-commerce solutions for blue chip clients like Tesco and VW Gedas. He led the development and launch of a mass market e-commerce solution for SMEs at the directory company Scoot, and went on to lead product management for an international e-procurement company during the early 00s. He’s consulted on digital asset management products at Sony and on strategies for monetizing BT’s online directory enquiries service on BT.com.

In 2005 he joined a file sharing start-up to head up product strategy and saw that grow from 3 people to a team of over 30 on both sides of the Atlantic, before starting www.brownbook.net in 2008.

His general management skills and interest in the practical applications of technology led him to Trader Media East where he assumed the responsibilities of interim CEO, restructuring the software development activities and helping to build an online classified vision for the company. Sahin now consults for TME and is also an independent board member at a generalist e-commerce website.
