I studied advertising design at Bradford College of Art, working as an assistant designer, a shop assistant, bar maid and even an elf for Santa Claus to make ends meet. After travelling I returned to the UK and took the first job that came along that included free travel, a telephone reservation / sales clerk with a tour operator. I progressed from reservations to sales executive, sales training officer, sales and marketing manager, PR officer in the travel trade working for companies such as; Intasun and Club 18-30, Freddy Laker, British Caledonian, Olympic Airways, AA travel (incoming). Breaking in my career to have a family I remained busy working from home as a historical researcher, producing an exhibition, book and teachers note for the Education and Library Board.

As the children moved into full time education, I moved back into conventional employment, starting as a merchandiser for Eason’s (Print distributors). It wasn’t too long before I met Jill Armer during a merchandisers briefing and the rest as they say is history. Initially working as a part merchandiser, my role seemed to change daily and it has to be said is still changing eight years later. I have been buying (and assessing the effectiveness of) POP materials, media of all types including TV, radio, 48 sheet, print etc as well as being involved with shows and exhibitions for around 15 years. I have experience of the UK, northern, central, southern and rural Irish markets, and yes they are all very different!

In addition to his directorships he is on advisory panels to Handheld History and the charity Youthnet.
