The next stop for the autumn 2008 ICMA GM …. M I A M I. The dates are 5-8 November 2008 and the location will be the Trump International.

In true ICMA tradition, the social and networking programme will reflect the venue, and Shay has booked some great entertainment for us all. From a poolside Welcome Reception and Dinner, to a hip evening out at the ultra-cool YUCA Cuban restaurant to the Princess Lady yacht for the Miami Vice themed Gala Party, plan to leave the socks behind and get out the cool shades!
But before all of this, on Wednesday afternoon we ‘ll be building and testing out rafts on the hotel beach. Teams will compete to see who can build the best and most seaworthy raft which they can paddle out and around a buoy. We’re expecting great things of ICMA delegates!
On the serious work side of things, the theme of the conference will be “Transforming Classifieds”. The sessions will focus on the need to completely change our businesses from the inside out and will look at the increasing convergence between traditional classifieds, directories and the new local search tools such as mapping, mobile, geo-location services, plus a short foray off into the rapidly-growing sector of video advertising. With specialist workshops on Google Analytics which will teach you more than you ever thought possible about how your website is performing), SEO/SEM and truning your call-centre into a profit centre, you’ll leave Miami relaxed and with more valuable ideas and contacts than you ever thought possible, and a deeper insight into the trends which will continue to shape our industry in the coming months and years.
