ICMA appoints new Chairman of the Board: Michael Berger, CEO Styria Digital Marketplaces GmbH
Amsterdam, Netherlands, 19 October 2021 – International Classified Marketplace Association (ICMA) announced Michael Berger, CEO Styria Digital Marketplaces GmbH has been appointed as the new ICMA Chairman of the Board. Effective 8 October, Berger succeeded Sang-Woo Pai, CEO of Doctari group, who remains as a member of the board.
“First of all, let me thank Sang-Woo for his effort and strong commitment towards ICMA he demonstrated during last year. I am very honored to take on the role as Chairman of the Board of ICMA at such an exciting time for our profession. Covid impacted the whole marketplaces industry and therefore clearly also ICMA. When Covid hit, we quickly developed digital event-formats that replaced our physical meetups. We thereby managed to offer great content and learning experiences for our members and for our industry. We achieved this for example by conducting several flights of a proprietary industry survey examining the effects and countermeasures regarding Covid. These almost “real time” insights into the market were very well received by our members and helped all of us to navigate through these challenging times. For the year to come our goal is to relaunch the in-person events of our association, which are so crucial for facilitating knowledge exchange and development for the online classifieds and marketplaces sector”, Michael Berger said.
Michael Berger, who has worked in the digital marketplace sector for some 15 years and is currently CEO of Styria Media Group’s Digital Marketplaces is responsible for the market leaders willhaben.at in Austria, njuskalo.hr in Croatia, bolha.com and mojedelo.com in Slovenia. His current focus is on the strategic and financial growth of the existing units as well as on the international expansion of the portfolio. Moreover, he manages the Full-Stack Marketplaces Technology Provider Trikoder in Croatia and is also active as lecturer in the universitary field.
In his new ICMA role, Michael Berger will continue to drive a key focus on making an impact that matters for ICMA’s members and to increase ICMA’s footprint in the online marketplaces industry.
