Mike Blinder knows media advertising sales like no other. A well-known radio and television talent in Maine, he moved out from behind the microphone and camera to excel in media sales. Mike was quick to realize the importance of the newly emerging internet phenomenon, and soon launched the Internet Sales Division of a leading media group.

His career has grown exponentially since then, and Mike is now in high demand as a sales consultant for some of the world’s most respected media companies and corporations. His unique approach to sales has been has been adopted by 50 thousand businesses world wide, and the Blinder Group, Mike’s company, has helped them bring their products – both traditional and Web-based – to countless clients, established and new.

Gerald Coniel is the CEO and a shareholder of the Junk Mail Publishing group in South Africa. He is one of the longest standing members of the association, since 1988 when it consisted of a small group of pioneers.

He has been actively involved in the life of the association as a Committee member and has chaired several Publishers’ Meetings as well as making numerous presentations over the years.

Gerald Coniel is the CEO and a shareholder of the Junk Mail Publishing group in South Africa. He is one of the longest standing members of the association, since 1988 when it consisted of a small group of pioneers.

Loren Dalton

Loren has spent most of his career in the free paper industry with Harte-Hanks Shoppers (owners of the PennySaver in California and the Flyer in Florida). 

In 1996, Loren became the President of the Harte-Hanks Shopper publications in Northern California. At the time, the circulation of those papers was just over 900,000 per week.

Loredana joined Inform Media as marketing manager following the completion of her economics degree. She moved into product management for the print products, helping to organize the sales force by determining targets for field sales, improving the sales workflow, and securing appropriate market and revenue share. She also took on responsibility as portal manager of Inform’s first classified portal and is now looking after sales and management of 8 news portals in Romania.

Loredana joined Inform Media as marketing manager following the completion of her economics degree. She believes that sales is all about the numbers and coordinates online sales for Inform’s entire portfolio, achieving an increase of 225% over the last two years.

Tish holds a bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria, Canada, and has studied in The Management Program at the University of Washington. Tish has been the General Manager of the UsedEverywhere network of free classified sites since October of 2008.  UsedEverywhere.com is a network of 56 free classified community websites in Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as a free online classified white label technology platform currently utilized to “power” other classified brands. UsedEverywhere.com, headquartered in Victoria, BC, Canada, is a division of Black Press. Black Press is the largest, independent publisher of community newspapers in North America.

Helmar Hipp
Managing Director, VM Group, Austria

Helmar Hipp, holding a master degree in engineering, started his professional
career in 1992 at Holtzbrinck publishing group, one of the largest
media companies in Germany. He held executive positions both in the
parent holding as well as in publishing and software subsidiaries
before he went on to establish corporate venture capital firm
holtzbrinck networks, and serving on the the executive board. From 2002
to 2005 he was managing partner at corporate finance and M&A
boutique EICON.

Presently Helmar is managing director at
Vorarlberger Medienhaus (VM Group) where he is responsible for the
company’s business in Germany, e.g. Quoka, as well as its online
expansion. VM Group is a privately owned media group, operating in the
German speaking markets and Eastern Europe with approximately 2000
employees in total and offering more than 100 newspaper and online
products. In addition, Helmar is a supervisory board member at several
companies, visiting lecturer for an MBA programme Controlling and
Finance as well as an author and speaker at conferences.

Eero Korhonen

Eero holds an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology. In his free time he enjoys endurance sports (marathon) and is active in non-profit associations supporting post-graduate and post-doctoral studies in technology and economics.

Christopher has over 13 years experience in the the online industry, after starting up his first big web-project 1997 during his University studies.

Over the past few years he worked as a Strategic Partnership Manager for AdSense and AdWords at Google Headquarters in Dublin, where he consulted with Google’s largest partners on how to optimize AdSense to increase revenues.

Moreover he worked as a Trainer and Coach for new Google Account Managers where he shared his experience with dozens of "Googlers". He initiated and lead several innovation projects inside Google and won several prestigious awards.

His work within the area of AdSense optimization and website usability consulting led him to establish the first sole AdSense Consulting Agency  “AdConversion GmbH” together with his former Google colleague Arne Pokrandt.

Chris holds an MSc in Business Administration from Graz University.

Hannu, Chairman of the Board and majority owner of development company Vendep, started his career as an entrepreneur in 2000 by establishing Fiare, a software development company currently specializing in providing software for classified advertising. He also owns Viento, a company that runs classified advertising sites in several countries together with local partners.

Nettiauto.com rapidly became the market leader in Finland and was sold to one of the major Finnish media houses in 2006.

Harald is CTO of Microsoft Austria Gmbh. He leads the Developer & Platform Evangelist Group which supports innovative IT projects to help Microsoft customers and partners to succeed by adoption new technology. He founded the Microsoft Innovation Center Vienna in 2008 which has become a social community platform for the Microsoft ecosystem.

Harald is CTO of Microsoft Austria Gmbh. He leads the Developer & Platform Evangelist Group which supports innovative IT projects to help Microsoft customers and partners to succeed by adoption new technology. Rob Paterson has over 20 years publishing experience all of it gained with Friday-Ad. After deciding that university was too much like hard work he joined Friday-Ad in the pre-press department and has gone on to undertake pretty much every role in the business from delivery driver to sales person to systems management.

He brings with him an insight of the Indian market, particularly the online media industry.

Prem, a seasoned marketing, business development and sales professional, has spent most of his career in the media industry in India.  He has more than 11 years of experience in managing business for esteemed organizations like Usha international, Nerolac Paints, ICICI Pru, Dish Tv and Consim Info (Bharatmatrimony.com). He brings with him an insight of the Indian market, particularly the online media industry.

He has  played a key role in setting up and expanding  Consim (an online matrimonial website  which is rated no-1 across the globe), dishtv- the DTH giant,  and ICICI pru- No-1 Insurance player in India. Prem, in his current assignment, is spearheading the team which is responsible for setting up the Online and Voice based classified media vertical in India for Getit Info services and aspires to make it the ‘most admired classified media organization’ in next couple of years.
 
Prem  is a graduate of FMS Business school, India . His background (both in college, as well as his time with Freeads) is in  Business development & Marketing . He is always searching for creative ways to promote his company. His latest was that he had grown his earlier company ( Cosnim: www.bharatmatrimony.com)  by 155% within a year.  

Prem is married to Swati for the last 4 years and is blessed with a son ‘ Sanchit’.   Prem is a cricket player and loves playing musical instruments.

Neal Polachek is president of BIA/Kelsey. With the company since 1998, Neal has led its foray into developing proprietary research initiatives that deliver a comprehensive and informed view of the local media and advertising sector. These research initiatives are essential components for the analyses and recommendations that are delivered to Continuous Advisory Service clients of BIA/Kelsey. Most recently, Neal has been instrumental in the development of the new “Market Ad View Reports,” market specific custom reports that provide an efficient way to estimate the local advertising opportunity available in each local market. Neal also manages and participates in BIA/Kelsey’s client consulting assignments and has been the project leader on numerous directory, online and local search projects, conducting market assessment studies and financial forecasts and evaluating and building business models.

After graduating with a degree in business engineering, he gained experience in sales and product management in the classifieds industry. He specializes in Google Analytics, SEO, Adwords and social media and is an ‘ecommerce entrepreneurship’ docent at Syntra. He believes the best sites have a ‘just do it’ mentality and are continuously testing and measuring everything to improve their results.

When he’s not behind his laptop, Andy likes unplanned travel, poetry and creativity. Andy believes that by persistence, belief and enthusiasm everything is possible.

Zollman serves as publisher and executive editor of CIR.
